Volunteer with us
and give something back
If you can spare a little time, there could be a place for you as one of the Benevolent Fund’s volunteer visitors.
The small staff team who provide Benevolent Fund services work closely with an indispensable network of volunteers, known as ‘Visitors’, who provide essential face-to-face contact with applicants and existing beneficiaries.
Being a Visitor can be a very rewarding experience and sometimes also a bit of a challenge! However, it is as essential as it is fulfilling, because you’ll be providing support and advice to people who really need it.
Providing a vital link between beneficiaries, the Benevolent Fund offices and the Trustees, we could not operate without these generous people who volunteer their time to help. View this video to hear more about the role from Leigh Jones, volunteer visitor.
Board of Trustees
Being one of the 12 Trustees of the Benevolent Fund means getting involved with the governance of the charity as well as agreeing awarding help to those most in need.
Our Trustees are highly valued and influential members of our team and because of this, candidates must be in a position to attend all four meetings a year.
In return, being a Trustee is a very gratifying commitment. Many tell us how delighted they are to see the range of positive results that their support has contributed to.

Become a Member of ICE Benevolent Fund
All Trustees and most volunteer Visitors are members of the ICE Benevolent Fund. The Trustees encourage all those who donate to the ICE Benevolent Fund to seek membership.
To become a member, you need to have paid the annual voluntary donation to the Benevolent Fund (currently £10) in the year prior to joining. As a member you will be entitled to attend and vote at the AGM and apply to become a Trustee. As a member, you will also become a guarantor and will be liable for a nominal £1 charge should the Ben Fund be dissolved but this is most unlikely!
Please consider applying to become an ICE Benevolent Fund member. There is a simple Application for membership to complete and return to the Benevolent Fund’s office. Please also read the company’s full Articles of Association.
Members of ICE who have made a donation of £10 to the Ben Fund in the preceding year but have not completed a membership application form which has been accepted by the Trustees, will be classed as Friends of the Ben Fund. Friends will be invited to attend the AGM, but will not be entitled to vote on any resolution.
