His memoirs take the reader on his journey, from student through to retirement, and is packed with anecdotes, projects and life experiences of working from 1960 through to the 21st century. Hugh reflects on his years working abroad and on the changes that took place in the industry throughout his time as a consulting engineer.

Hugh has also been a longstanding and loyal supporter of the ICE Benevolent Fund. He didn’t give his annual voluntary contribution much thought until he became reacquainted with a former colleague, sadly in poor health, who was being supported by the Ben Fund. This, along with media coverage about what an impact the Ben Fund has on individuals’ lives, is the reason, that Hugh decided profits from the sale of his book will be donated to the ICE Benevolent Fund.
